Elevate(her)

Elevate(her)

I look across my path and see her standing there

She’s got this look right on her face

I can tell somethings not right, so I asked myself

Do I mind my business and keep it movin

Or maybe walk up and do what I’m feeling, elevate her

I pick the latter and make my move

She looks up at me as I approach as if she knows what I’m here for

I asked her “how are you, are you ok?”

She gave me a slight smile and said yes she was fine thanks

Being my concerned self I asked, “are you sure?”

Of course she said no this time, but then surprised me

I witnessed her begin to break down in tears and I knew something was up

She confided in me and told me what was wrong

So I did my duty and treated her right

I don’t need to tell you all what was hurting her

You can come up with your own thoughts on that

Just know that I was there to elevate her

Make her feel higher than ever before

On a pedestal she had never known

We got back her confidence, made it her own

Sometimes I come right back to this place

Because I know that’s where she’ll be

If ever in need of me to be available

I’ll elevate her right back to where she needs to be
